Preview: Final Fantasy 8 takes place around 2100 A.D. the world actually looks quite similar to the world Red 13 sees at the end of the ending to FF7. The main character is Squall, a 17 year old enrolled in an elite milatary school [Balamb gardens]. Squall dreams of becoming a Seed, gardens' elite mercenary force. Through his quest to become a SeeD he constantly faces Seipher, another SeeD trainee. Eventually he teams up with five other teammates to overthrow an evil Sorceress and save not only the world, but time itself.
Note:Difficulty has no outcome on the game's final grade.

Graphics: 9.5
The cinema graphics are a 10.0 but the normal graphics are sorta choppy and similar to FF7's. The characters often look fuzzy, especially up close, but the backgrounds are great.

Sound: 9.5
The sound is VERY good, especially the music [I love Laguna's battle music!].  I don't beleive it's quite as good or memorable as FF4 or 6, though. I had to mark it down because it doesn't contain the FF theme song.

Play control:9.6
The play control is very smooth about 95% of the time, there are though a few incidents [such as durring Laguna vs. The Dragon] where the response is slow, I think it helps to set the controls to fit FF4 - 7's.

Specials, Inginuity, and Replay:9.0
There are tons of new goodies: A new limit break style, New drawing and junctioning sysytems, the New GF system, and Triple Triad, which is a whole game in itself . It's also got hours worth of Sub - quests.

Challenge:8.0 = Advanced Level
The game, is pretty easy for me, but I've been playing RPG's for quite a while, and only died six times [on my 1st try and it was my first Playstation game]. It isn't a game for first timers though. About as hard as FF 4 - 7.

Overall: 9.4 = A
A very good game, every RPG player should own it. It's in my top 10, and is a great game, though some [such as myself] don't feel that it is quite as good as previous FF games.

If you liked this game try:
1.Final Fantasy 4
2.Final Fantasy 6
3.Final Fantasy 7
4.Breath of Fire 3
5.:Lufia 2
